Ingredients for Alur Dom or Spicy Potatoes Bengali Style
- Potato--6medium sized
- Onion-- 2medium sized
- Ginger-Garlic Paste--1tbsp
- Tomato--1
- Peas--a handful
- khara jira--1/2tsp
- Bay leaf-1
- Dry red chilli--2
- Mustard oil--4tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Sugar just a little.
- Turmeric Powder--1tsp
- Red Chilli Powder--1tsp
- Cumin POwder--1tsp
- Coriander Powder--1/2tsp
- Garam Masala Powder--1tbsp
How to prepare Alur Dom or Spicy Potatoes Bengali Style
- Boil the potatoes,peel and cut into dices.
- Put a pan on the stove,add mustard oil,the khada jira,the bay leaf n the dry red chillies.Fry till the potatoes are a little brown.
- Now take the potatoes out,and keep them aside,add the chopped onions and the ginger-garlic paste,fry well,add the sugar,salt,turmeric,chilli,cumin and corriander powder.
- Now add the tomato,mix well,then add the peas n the fried potatoes.
- And stir well,till the gravy mixes well with the potato.
- Now put the gas off,sprinkle the garam masala n cover it with a lid .
- Serve with,chappati,puri or paratha.
